Murter

Geographical and historical position

The centrally located town of Murter, first recorded in 1273 as a rural settlement and traditionally being the largest of the four main settlements on the homonymous island, still offers its many visitors complete serenity, beautiful crystal clear sea, amazing hill-point views, charming ancient olive groves and lovely coves nestled within dense pine forests. The story of "the town as it once was" has been preserved in the authentic stone-arched streets, simple appealing houses, sturdy stone walls covered with ivy, as well as in modest yet innovative architectural ingenuity evident throughout the town centre.
